Stanton-Gerber Hall - ETSU COM located on the campus of ETSU Quillen College of Medicine at the Mountain Home Veteran's Administration Campus, it is a proud center piece for the College of Medicine. It houses the administrative offices for the COM and the Psychiatry Core Research Facility. Harrisons Lectures, and Grand rounds for both Medicine and Psychiatry take place in this newly constructed facility.
Ned McWherter Hall (Building #52) Psychiatry Clinic/Administration
Didactic activities are held routinely in this building which houses the residents' resource library and offices for residents to see psychotherapy patients. This is the site for both general psychiatry outpatient clinic and the child psychiatry clinic operated by the Department of Psychiatry and staffed by the Faculty and Resident Physicians.
It also serves as the administration building for the Department and houses academic offices of full time faculty. The offices of the chair, Medical Student Course Director, Residency Training Director and Residency Coordinator are located here.
Johnson City Medical Center The Johnson City Medical Center is a 390-bed facility opened in 1980. The internal medicine residency service provides care for all of the hospitalized patients of the full-time faculty and for the ambulatory patients of the university's general internists. The university service is limited to a maximum of 30 inpatients, providing a comfortable resident-patient ratio. The patient population is an excellent one, encompassing all ages and disease processes. The pace of the service is designed to provide ample reading time for the residents. The increasing importance of state-of-the-art ambulatory evaluation of patients is emphasized during this rotation.
Consultation-Liaison psychiatric rotations as well as primary care rotations, neurology services and emergency psychiatry activities, take place at this facility.
James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center The James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a large facility consisting of 57 buildings located on 220 acres immediately adjacent to the university campus and the Johnson City Medical Center. The College of Medicine is located on the VAMC grounds. In addition to the main 446-bed acute care hospital, there is an 85-bed intermediate care unit, and a 580-bed nursing care unit, and a 550-bed domicile.
The internal medicine service includes four general internal medicine teams and one subspecialty team (hemotology/oncology). In addition there is an intensive care unit, a coronary care unit, a respiratory intensive care unit, and a coronary care step-down unit. The geriatric service consists of the 85-bed intermediate care unit and the 58-bed nursing home care unit.
Psychiatric services consist of an 80-bed inpatient and outpatient psychiatic service consisting of a 42-bed psychiatric unit and a 38-bed substance abuse treatment unit. This service is accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). A significant number of the inpatient activities, as well as outpatient clinics, take place at the VA, in addition to numerous elective activities.
Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center a community healthcare provider for nearly eight decades, boasts the region's newest hospital facility – a state-of-the-art campus completed in January 1994. The 348-bed hospital is situated on 125 acres and offers a vast spectrum of cutting-edge medical services and technologies. Home of 5-East(Med/Psych), it is the primary provider of ECT in the area. The Hospital also has a General Medicine ward team.
Indian Path Pavilion is a JCAHO-accredited 48 bed psychiatric hospital located in Kingsport, Tennessee adjacent to Indian Path Hospital. This hospital is a primary site for the University Psychiatry in-patient service, and is a major teaching site for both Psychiatry residents and medical students. Also available at this hospital are a variety of intensive outpatient programs.
Woodridge Psychiatric Hospital is a 75 bed psychiatric hospital, fully accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. As the primary facility in the region accepting mental health commitments, it offers experience with the most severely mentally ill patients. In addition, it is structured to accommodate private practice patients and is the location of the University Inpatient Services. Additionally, it offers a child and adolescent unit and substance abuse treatment.
ETSU Physicians and Associates Clinical Education Building Location of Long-term general internal medicine clinics, providing care for patients in the region and serving as an excellent teaching base for our residents. Each of the clinics is supervised by a faculty member of the Department of Internal Medicine.
