With many of our residents heading towards careers in academia, research has been identified as a crucial part of our training. Although the Medical School is not a research driven institution, there are ample opportunities to join in projects or create one as you see fit. As Primary Mentors, both Drs. Kelley and Barney Miller are readily available. Some of our research has been presented on a National level. In fact this Website is product of guarded research time.
Department of Psychiatry Resident's Research Track The Resident Research Track is a special program offered to Residents in which they can pursue their Clinical Research interests within the context of our teaching facilities. Each Resident is expected to find a mentor for their projects from among the faculty of the department (both Regular and Clinical) or from within the College of Medicine. The program grants a minimum of 2 hrs "away from regular duties" during each week (subject to prior approval with Attending Physicians) and allows to Resident to apply for Departmental funding and to use Departmental research resources.
