The Department of Psychiatry is chaired by Merry N. Miller, M.D. and the Residency Program Director is Hetal K. Brahmbhatt, M.D. The department is located near the main campus of ETSU, on the campus of the Mountain Home VA in Johnson City, Tennessee. A view from the front of Ned R. McWherter Hall, designated Building 52, on the Mountain Home VA campus. This building is the location of the ETSU, Quillen College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. In 1994 Ned R. McWherter Hall was named for the former Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives who had, on March 12, 1974 given the deciding vote that overrode Governor Dunn's veto of the bill that funded the founding of ETSU medical school. Speaker McWherter went on to become Governor of Tennessee in 1986.
